# Truth Machine

> Turn changing evidence into current truth through exact, reviewed change.

**Category:** Reference architecture
**Status:** Accepted specification 0.1.0
**Role:** The truth substrate

Truth Machine is a reference architecture for systems that must maintain an attributable current account from incomplete, overlapping, or conflicting evidence.

## Who it is for

Teams whose decisions depend on durable shared claims and who need the prior account, proposed change, review, and reason to remain recoverable.

## Capabilities

### Separates evidence from truth

A source contributes claims only within its declared authority.

### Makes change exact

Reconciliation proposes a bounded delta against an identified current state.

### Binds review to the proposal

Stale, invalid, or partly applicable work advances nothing.

### Publishes for people and peers

HTML, Markdown, manifests, schemas, and context files derive from the same source.

## Working sequence

1. **Gather evidence.** Retain provenance, authority, uncertainty, and disagreement.
2. **Propose an exact change.** Reconcile against an identified state and coherence boundary.
3. **Review and advance.** Bind approval to exact bytes, then retain the new account and its reason together.

## Boundaries

- Truth Machine is a reference architecture, not a hosted service or universal database.
- An AI peer may do substantial work but gains no authority from fluency.
- The current maturity claim stops at a verified first-party publication; adoption or external conformance is not claimed.
